Erik Schweigert leads the Tofino Engineering team within Belden’s Industrial Cybersecurity platform. He developed the Modbus/TCP, OPC, EtherNet/IP modules and directed the development of the DNP3, and IEC-60870-5-104 deep packet inspection modules for Tofino security products. His areas of expertise include industrial protocol analysis, network security, and secure software development. Schweigert graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from Vancouver Island University.

Topic: Securing your ICS with Defense in Depth and Deep Packet Inspection

The common question I hear is, “there are so many tools and technologies available, where do I begin?” While there are many aspects to securing your network this talk will investigate the roots of Defense in Depth, how it can be applied to your network, and why there is now a need more than ever to secure your processes. Stemming from that the presentation will move into DPI methodology and investigate the benefits of DPI and ways in which an end-user could gauge the dizzying options of deep packet inspection devices and next generation firewalls.
